As part of the effort to intensify the fight against human trafficking in Kwara State, the members of NACTAL State chapter paid an advocacy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties Mrs. Oyedun Juliana Funke. They discussed the recent escalation of traffickers activities in the state and the need to build partnership with the state government to address the worrisome development that have put many girls into forced labour and sexual exploitation within and outside Nigeria.
They discussed the plan of NACTAL to launch a state wide public enlightenment campaign in the fight against human trafficking. The campaign will target religious bodies, traditional rulers, tertiary institutions, road transport workers, market women etc. Speaking during the advocacy visit, the NACTAL coordinator called on the state government to initiate empowerment programs for at risk persons in the state.
The Honourable Commissioner in her response commended NACTAL for the visit and for its commitment to ensuring human trafficking activities is put to a halt in the state. She pledged government support to NACTAL.
