Dear NACTAL members,

I welcome you into the new year 2020, a new decade and optimistically a new dawn for NACTAL.
I cannot but give glory to God Almighty who has given us our life as  gift to sail through the year 2019, helping us to make impact in humanity as we prevent human trafficking and irregular migration as well as supporting those who have falling victim. The past year has gone but with history for our great network. Permit me to mention few of the happenings in the year 2019.
In the year 2019, NACTAL had a strategic plan for the first time since 2005 when the network was created.
Secondly, we were able to conduct a verification of all members across the nation, the first in our history as well. A base line survey was conducted to identify the strength and gap of the network. NACTAL constitution was reviewed to accommodate emerging development. A project was signed with IOM which we are almost done with the implementation.
NACTAL is one of the four partners benefiting from the EU funded project Action Against Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (ATIPSOM) implemented by FIAPP. NACTAL also participated in the UNODC observatory survey in Edo state.
The international day against trafficking of person was held on 30th July where we made a record breaking ground by reaching about 10 million people with messages on TIP.
The Struggles to coordinate and ensure functional members which have been on for a while was a success last year 2019 with a new zonal coordinator appointed.
The office of NACTAL was not left out in the achievement, our office moved from a room domicile in Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF) and moved to a more spacious place within the Federal secretariat, with support of equipment from UNODC and FIAPP.
The year under review also see NACTAL enhancing our partnership with National Agency For Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) as we worked together on various activities.
All this would not have been if not for the sacrificial effort of the Executive some who have to work till late in the night at time on the field, stay awake even in the night and contributing to the growth of the network without looking at remuneration. May God bless them all.
The Board of NACTAL was dynamic in 2019, in fact the public presentation witnessed the presence of all the BOT members and the representation of the Chair. The support and guidance of the BOT was not in a little measure, hence we were able to ride on their goodwill to make the required impact.
While looking at 2019, we cannot but appreciate our partners including NAPTIP, EU, ECOWAS, IOM, NIS, FIAPP, British council; German, Spanish, Venezuela and other embassies and diplomatic mission; many others who have contributed to the development of NACTAL.
The year 2020 is hope to be a 100% performance for NACTAL as we are very hopeful that greater than what we did in 2019. In the next few weeks we will be sharing with you the workplan for 2020 based on our strategic plan. We hope also to produce the strategic plan and share it with all NACTAL members. In the 2020, we shall position NACTAL for greater opportunities; we shall commemorate the international days and seek to empower all member organizations of the network.
As you all know, this team came on board in 2017 and by the constitution have two years which elapse in November 2019, hence we shall be conducting a congress (tentative date is 23rd of January 2019)
While thanking you all for the commitment displayed in 2019, we seek for a greater commitment and support from you all. The more we are together the better.
Once again,  happy new year and wishing you all the best.
Adaramola Emmanuel
National President
